An Ultimate guide for New WordPress Bloggers – Part 1

If you are a new blogger on the wordpress site , then this post is for you. When I joined an year back , I have found this platform to be the best , easy to understand even if you are not computer literate . The community is very supportive. There are many bloggers who helped me to grow and understand the basics of blogging. I am not an expert as I am still on the way of learning as learning is an never ending process.

Today I am going to share the few things which I feel every new blogger on the wordpress must know at the beginning stage.

WordPress blog setup, a guide to new bloggers

Once you have created an account on Word Press , the next step is make your blog reader friendly and easy to navigate. Here are few steps you should take to attract readers and to present your blog to the world.

About page:

This is an important page that you should write first for your readers to give an idea about yourself and your blog. You may include your picture with a little bio too.
It gives a clear picture to the reader about what they are going to get on your blog. Take a look at my About Page

Widgets :

There is a space on your website where you can add widgets. In the very beginning you may find it difficult to understand what these widgets are all about and why is there a need to add and where to add. You can add these widgets to sidebar i.e. on the side of the website page or at bottom of the page , depending on the the theme. This includes

Text widget – for adding text.
Search widget – for adding Search bar
My community- showing the blogs you follow
Recent post- for showing the recent post
Twitter timeline – for showing latest tweets

Social Media Profiles :

This helps your follower to get connected with you on other social media platforms. You have to connect the social icons of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram to your accounts. This is because your reader may know you better from your other accounts as you must be posting something different on other accounts e.g. I post food recipes , my travel pics on my Insta Page and Facebook page.
